Thank you for caring and contributing
If you are visiting this page from seeing the link in the newspaper of late - please feel free to view our sponsors list below. We had 45 sponsors who were so generous to donate to the cause.
And if you feel like you would also like to contribute any monies to the Cancer Council please do so via the 'sponsor me' button on the page.
Thank you for caring and contributing.
In the newspaper today
We raised $5120 for Cancer Council for Girls Night In on Oct 26. Much more than I imagined.! Amazing! I am so grateful for all who contributed their monies and talents to make the night possible.! I am in awe of community spirit and the 45 sponsors who supported the cause.
I have cared for many patients with cancer in my professional career and I know from personal experience - cancer doesn’t just effect the diagnosed individual. It also has lasting affects on many. I have known friends and family members affected by the devastating disease and I sympathise with others on this journey as we remember those whom we have lost to cancer. I am so proud of the cancer survivors we have as we celebrate their wins with them.
This is my way of giving back and making a difference. May you be inspired also to change a life in some way and give back to something you feel passionate about. xx
In honour of you Mum, 17 years ago. Xx

Thanks for joining me on the October journey
Thank you for joining me on the journey through the month of October, as I shed some light on cancer awareness, who the Cancer Council is and what they do with their funds each year. Thank you to the 45 sponsors; to all the ladies who came to the event and for those who made donations. Thank you for all who gave encouragement and helped out on the night of the fundraising event.
I achieved much much more than I ever thought was possible. $5120 and 5th position in the state of Victoria. May these funds go towards a cure for cancer, prevention screenings and treatment for many. My hope is that the monies greatly bless those in need and bring hope and a future to the women of today and generations to follow.
Many ladies expressed they enjoyed the night and there has been interest in another Girls Night In... stay tuned.... I am passionate about building community and believe together we can achieve greatness!!

Event Night Total.....
Thank you to all who came to the Girls Night In Fundraiser last night.
It was a fabulous night!
There were lots of items up for grabs in the live and silent auctions and lucky dips. Giveaways included food vouchers, day spa vouchers, food items & fitness memberships. There were prizes hiding in the room, including free hot drink and frozen yoghurt vouchers and a box of many kgs of sweet potatoes for one lucky winner!!
There was live music, photobooth fun and board games as ladies had the chance to catchup and enjoy some kindly donated pizza & hot chips with some amazing homemade sweets and drinks.
Food vouchers, movie tickets, artwork, fitness vouchers, beauty hampers, self-help and recipe books, family and children's experiences and day spa and pampering vouchers were all up for grabs in the auctions.
We had 45 sponsors and other contributors and helpers - this in itself is what I call fantastic community spirit!
The night provided an opportunity for ladies of various ages and backgrounds to unite and reflect on how cancer has affected all our lives in one way or another. We remembered those whom we have lost to this terrible disease and we celebrated the survivors!
The night was in honour of my Mum Denise, who will be forever missed. It was also a way of myself giving back to help others after having received community support when I needed it most with my own health.
A total of $4409 was raised on the night (including some donations on the web link) with 65 plus people attending!!
Please share the link - I am still accepting donations - it’s not the end of the month, so we aren’t finished yet.!!
Let’s together raise more awareness and more money for cancer research.
We want more prevention and more survivors!

In memory of my Mum Denise
In memory of my Mum...
I’m hosting a Girls’ Night In to help all Victorian women affected by cancer.
Every year, 15,700 Victorian women are diagnosed with cancer, and 6,000 of those will be breast or gynaecological cancers.
I have nursed many patients with cancer in my professional career; known friends and family members affected by the devastating disease; but more to the point I lost my own Mum to breast cancer when I was 15 years old. And I have missed my precious Mum for the last 17 years!
I have walked in honour of my Mum, Denise, as a tradition every second year for the Mother’s Day Classic. Hosting this fundraiser in October has been something I have wanted to do for awhile. This October, this year, the time has come.
I want to raise awareness and funds to save even more lives, so I'm helping Cancer Council Victoria by hosting a Girls’ Night In. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch-up and raise some funds for a needed cause.
By supporting me, you’ll be funding ground-breaking cancer research, prevention programs and support services that offer a helping hand to all Victorian women affected by cancer.
Please donate to the cause by attending the planned event October 26 or alternatively you can donate to the Cancer Council using the link below. The evening will feature cafe style live music, board games, door prizes and a silent auction. There will be lots of fantastic vouchers and prizes up for grabs! Tickets $10/person, payable at the door. Send me a message if you’d like the event address or further info regarding the event.
Supporting them to support others
October is a month to raise money for the Victorian Cancer Council - so I am hosting a fundraiser - “Girls Night In”. Leading up to this event I will be raising awareness by sharing some related posts.
“Vic Cancer Council’s mission is to:
Prevent cancer. Empower patients. Save lives.”
“Every year, more than 30,500 Victorians will be diagnosed with cancer, and nearly 11,000 will die from cancer.”
Survival will also improve with research looking at early detection and treatment of cancer.

Cancer Council Victoria
“In 2018, Cancer Council Victoria spent 79% of expenditure on cancer research, prevention programs and support services.”
💛 $26.2 million was spent on cancer research.
🧡 $21.5 million on cancer prevention.
💙 $6.9 million on cancer support.
The cancer council has a number of programs, such as Quit Victoria, SunSmart, LiveLighter, Rethink Sugary Drink and screening programs which educate about how individuals can cut their cancer risk by eating a healthy diet, being physically active, limiting alcohol, not smoking, being a healthy weight, and getting checked for cancers such as bowel and melanoma.
Girls Night In
October is a month to raise money for the Victorian Cancer Council - so I am hosting a fundraiser - “Girls Night In”. Leading up to this event I will be raising awareness by sharing some related posts.
“Girls Night In is a Cancer Council initiative, which raises money specifically for women's cancers including breast, cervical, ovarian, vaginal or uterine cancers. Last year over 120,000 women joined together at over 6,000 Girls Night In events to raise $3.8 million - and this year more women at more events are set to raise more money for the cause.” VIC Cancer Council
